Cooking involves hundreds of small kitchen tasks, some of which can be very boring and time consuming as well. Not everyone enjoys doing these tasks and are looking for a shortcut. This is where cooking hacks come in and sometimes, these can make a big difference between spending a few minutes and putting in hours in the kitchen. Ido Fishman sheds light on some useful cooking hacks that everyone can use to simplify the process of cooking. Check them out here:

Roast garlic quickly in the microwave instead of oven

You can skip out the entire process of having to roast garlic for 45 minutes with this Ido Fishman cooking hack. All you have to do is combine olive oil, garlic and water in a bowl and put that in the microwave for about seven minutes. You will have the delicious roasted garlic you need.

Place butter under a warm glass to soften it

If you attend Ido Fishman cooking classes, you will learn that you just need to fill a glass with hot water, dump the water and then put it over a slab of butter. It will take only a couple of minutes for the butter to start spreading.

Put your sheet pan in the oven to cook your roasted veggies quickly

When your oven is preheating, Ido Fishman suggests that you put your sheet pan in it and this will help you cook your roasted vegetables in very less time. Plus, you don’t have to flip the veggies over to make them crispy from the bottom.

Use a water bottle to separate eggs quickly

You don’t want to break the yolks when you are separating eggs and Ido Fishman says that an empty water bottle comes in handy for this. You can just suck up the yolks with the water bottle and they will not break.

Microwave potatoes before roasting or frying

You want your potatoes to be cooked thoroughly and properly in half the cooking time? Ido Fishman food expert recommends that you microwave them for about four minutes before frying or roasting. This will make them come out tender and nice.

Use an apple slicer to make potato wedges

Who doesn’t want the perfect potato wedges? You do not need to have crazy knife skills to do that. In fact, Ido Fishman says that you don’t have to put in any effort at all if you use an apple slicer as it will give you the wedges you want.

Hull strawberries with a drinking straw

Have you tried to hull strawberries and ended up wasting too much berry? Of course you want to avoid that and Ido Fishman suggests you use a drinking straw to remove the hulls gently, as this will get it done quickly and not waste a lot of berry either.

Instantly ripen bananas by baking them

All you need to do is bake hard bananas for 25 minutes. Ido Fishman suggests that you keep the oven at 350°F and bake the bananas until they turn dark and soft on the outside.

Microplane ginger and garlic

Another cooking hack that Ido Fishman shares is to microplane garlic and ginger. There is no need for you to use a knife when you want to mince them, as you can just microplane and get the job done.

Microwave mushrooms before you sauté them

Want to cut down your mushroom cooking down in half? Ido Fishman recommends that you microwave them before sautéing them. This way, the mushrooms get rid of all the extra water, which speeds up the cooking process.

Use an electric hand mixer to shred chicken

If you want to shred the chicken quickly, Ido Fishman suggests that you use an electric hand mixer to do so. The only thing to remember is that the chicken needs to be warm for it to work, or else you will not get the desired results.
